Here is a weird one - I am capturing into DV some Hi8 video using and ADC55. I have captured many analogue and digital tapes before - so I am reasonably familiar with the process. Every time I start off my capture it runs for exactly 1 minute and 2 secs and then VS9 stops the capture. If I restart it - 1min 2 secs later it stops. The camera keeps going.
I am capturing in PAL but that should make no odds.
I have turned off all other applications
I have a new and powerful desktop
I have restarted VS9 as well as the whole desktops to no avail.
I think it has to live inside VS9 in order to so reliably stop at 1 min 2secs.
Could there be some setting or other ??
All ideas welcome
Many thanks Vince
Capture stops after 1min 2secs everytime !

I am guessing from your statement that your HD is not FAT 32 as you have done other analog tapes? No chance that you set the Duration timer by mistake?Vincej wrote:Here is a weird one - I am capturing into DV some Hi8 video using and ADC55. Maybe I am confused but I think he is capturing analog HI 8 and not DV. If he were capturing DV there would be no need for the ADC55.Ken Berry wrote:Apart from the timer suggestion, you might also Google for a freeware and very small program which does an excellent job of capturing DV. It is called WinDV. Try using that and if it too stops at 1 minute 02 seconds, then you will know it is not VS9 (or, of course, vice versa).

Well to be added to the confused club, He states that he is capturing to DV from a Hi-8 camcorder. So he must be able to convert the analog to digital using the ADC55..
EDIT
I done a google search and found a ADVC55, which is made by Canopus, and is an excellent capture device. It has Firewire, and seems to be able to do the analog/digital conversion. ADVC= Advanced Digital Video Converters. It does have a built in chip for doing the conversions.

You might try the free program that Ken suggested, just to see if the problem still exists. This would narrow it done to VS9, if you can. If not then there may be a problem with your Canopus capture card.

Good People - I have to admit TOTAL stupidity on this one !!
I made an error when setting up the timer: I had believed I had set it for 1 hour 2 minutes when indeed I had set it for 1 min 2 secs.
Apologies for having wasted your time and Thanks.
But now Ihave a really genuine one which is not stupid on the topic of VS error message "found unexpected error. Removed device" I will create a new post.

We all, at least the ones who will admit it, have done some silly things without meaning to. Glad to hear you got that part working.Vincej wrote:Good People - I have to admit TOTAL stupidity on this one !!
