Audio Not Working in Video Studio

Post by bonster »

Hi,

First post to this forum after now consuming most of Saturday trying to get this problem resolved. Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.

Nature of the problem
I have VS8 and get supplied a DVD with horse races in a format .VOB. I do not know what device is used to record these videos.
I can load the DVD into WinFast PVR and play the races without an issue. However, I want to "Clip" the videos to just the race and save them onto local disk drive.
When I load the DVD into VS8 and play I am not getting any audio.

Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?)
.VOB

Third party supplier

What devices are involved and their mode of connection?
Reading directly off DVD player, internally installed in PC.

Project Settings

Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD)
Whavever will work, no preference.

PAL or NTSC

Error Codes (if any)

VOB files are DVD files.
Not sure if VS8 allows importing DVD but try this VS : Importing DVD Files
Also have a look at this previous post

In VS right click on the video & select Media properties or properties. If the audio is Dolby Digital your version of VS doesn't probably support Dolby Digital audio.

Thanks guys, the knowledge has increased thanks to your help and the fog has cleared in my head. Looks like I need to upgrade from the SE version.

For the record, in answer to the queries raised:
VS8 does not let me import from DVD.

Yes, it is Dolby Digital format hence the version needs an upgrade.

Great forum, thanks again.

I would hold off on upgrading to the latest version (v10), as v11 should be released any day now.

Thanks for that advice, fortunately I downloaded the 30day trial and will hold off until next release.

Kewl Beans, you will be able to try-out both versions, at the same time. However once VS11 is released you will not be able to purchase VS10. But it will allow you to see the difference between the two versions..;)
