I can see why you were having a problem identifying the manual, although I have now found your TV card on their website, the manual isn't shown!

Could you try the following please.

1. Download and install the latest driver for your TV card
http://www.comprousa.com/downloadfiles/ ... d_1356.exe

2. Download and install the latest TV Application ComproDTV3.0.2.6
http://www.comprousa.com/downloadfiles/ ... TV3026.exe

3. Download and install the latest FM Application ComproFM2.1.4.3
http://www.comprousa.com/downloadfiles/ComproFM2143.exe

All 3 above links have a release date of 14 March 2007 and so are very recent.

Once you have completed the above
1. Try to capture again with DVD MovieFactory.
2. If this fails try recording with ComproDTV and then see if you can import the recording into DVD MovieFactory.

Thanks for that Steve. Looks as though we might be getting somewhere.
However I would like to check this with you.

Well Steve I carried out the instructions and the result has simply been that not only don't I get the VHS picture but the TV pictures are no longer seen.
The local Tech who sold me the programme has no idea what is wrong so I am lost.

Unfortunately sometime the latest device driver does not work.
Try rolling back to the original driver as shown in this link

How to Roll Back a Device Driver

Once done please confirm that your TV card program ComproDTV3 is now working again. If so then it looks like your best option is to record your TV program with ComproDTV3 and then import the video into MovieFactory.

Thanks for your help and patience Steve but I've given up. A good friend of mine travelled 60 miles to give me a programme WinFast. It has complete step by step instructions and is very easy to use. I have already captured a particular tape I needed urgently.
I fail to understand why so many Companies today in the computer industry assume customers have a good technical knowledge. There is a large market of older people who haven't had the advantage of growing up learning with computer games as so many young people have.

If you have an idle minute you can see that although I am stupid I am not a complete idiot by watching this:

Please excuse me for butting in at such a late point in time but what gave you the impression anyone thought you were stupid? On the contrary, I admire your tenacity to persevere with something obviously, and rightly so, alien to you.

I had a look at your website and wish I could muster half the time and effort you have put into this. You obviously never stopped learning new things and that kept you mentally fit.

Even though you were struggling to get things to work your way and, at times must have felt like ¡§This is never going to work¡¨, you stuck with it and found a way to do what you wanted. Well done.

In your own words to Steve you said "Thanks for your help and patience Steve but I've given up." Forgive me for disagreeing with you. You didn't give up. You found a way to do what you want and that is great.

I only wish that some of our young participants on these boards would apply half as much brains and effort to their endeavours as you have.

You certainly found an admirer in another ¡¥old fart¡¦ who doesn¡¦t give up easily. Although in comparison, at my miserly 60 years of age, I¡¦m still a spring chicken but, compared to the majority of users here I¡¦m just that, an old fart.

Funny enough, our paths could have crossed at many an occasion. I was born in Germany, only about 60 or so km north of one place you mentioned in your website, Marienheide, and have been camping there as a youngster almost every year for my school holidays. My favoured spot was a small dam called Lingese Talsperre. Now, like yourself, I call Australia home.

Keep up the good works and don't let the fact that you struggled in vain with one piece of technology put you down. You more than conquered that by finding another to get what you want.

Sorry that I didn't manage to help get that one working, and like Heinz I was impressed that you managed to carry out the steps I requested.

The fault that it is not working is not yours, I think that the piece of hardware you were sold was perhaps incompatible with MovieFactory and our attempts to make it so probably caused more harm than good.

The VideoMate website was not that helpful in so far as it acknowledged the existence of your hardware and also provided updated drivers and software for it. The links on that web site pointing to the download for the user manual took us to a page full of manuals for their other products but no manual for your item!

I can understand how that would be very frustrating for anyone irrespective of their age.

I know that when I was at school computers in High Street shops did not exist. I remember the first computer shop that appeared in my small town and in their display windows was this computer monitor with a fascinating screen saver. I didn't know what it was at the time but was intrigued to find out.

Of course I am a lot younger than you and so I can understand that many Senior citizens would shy away from this technology. In fact I work in a heavily computer orientated organisation and even the younger employees find difficulty using these computers.

A few months ago a friend was having problems with her computer and I attempted to talk her through something via telephone. I knew I was on a loser when she suddenly said "where's the spacebar?"

I have lost count of the number of times my wife (a year younger than myself) has said to me "how do you do that copy and paste thing again?"

I wish you good luck in your new video production hobby and please come back to this forum if we are able to (try) and assist you further.
