Frustrated

Post by rainy »

As an elderly (86) beginner I find instructions mainly useless. I told my computer shop I wanted to transfer VHS tapes to DVD's. The tech installed Video Mate which includes U Lead Movie Factory 4. I have since found it is up to #6. I printed 22 pages of instructions and found they have 95% telling me WHAT to do and only 5% of HOW to do it.
Page 7 tells me I can capture from VCR's. I go the appropriate window but there is nothing there about VCR's. I try Capture Video and it starts to scroll through TV Channels but nothing comes up.
YES I have the TV and VCR connected and switched on.

Can anyone give me simple directions.

Really, buy a Panasonic or Sony DVD Recorder.
Get your money back from the computer tech.

Thanks Brum it did open my mind to a few things I hadn't spotted but still haven't got there yet. The windows you illustrate are a little different to mine. Some things that came up need someone with a University degree in electronics to understand.
Tried to update but a window came up saying couldn't find WF4.
Very strange because it is installed.

People who devise computer programmes have brilliant minds but are incapeable of writing instructions in simple English.

There is nothing to tell me how I capture from a VHS tape. The programme is therefore useless for me.
Can't get a refund from the place I bought it.

If so do you see the TV working in the screen up at the top left.

Layout on first pic slightly differen but third pic is the same. TV picture is running on right according to Chanell I have it set to.
My Video Channel is 1 but all I get is a blank screen. Or at least wavy lines.

If You are in Brum then you are working through the night. $'15 pm here in OZ

Yes I have been on night shift!

Please view the following screen shots - you need to set up your TV channels to either cable or antenna

Could you look at this list of different models of your TV card and let me know which one you have.

http://www.comprousa.com/New/en/manuals.html

I also need you to fill in your system specifications (Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.) in particular the video card you have.

So your a Liverpudlian then! I was wondering why an Aussie was calling me a brummy
