Thanks David.
I'll try a Type 1, Lower Field First capture over the next few days.
What frame type or DV Type to use?

Hi
Sorry to confuse you.
Generally capture from a digital source uses Lower Field (field A)
I have not seen a digital signal that is not lower field, but with your Canopus ADVC 100—Vhs set up this may be the case.
Generally capture from an analogue source uses Upper Field 99% of the time. There is no such thing as analogue ALWAYS being upper field.
(My tv tuner uses both Lower Field and Upper Field depending on the program being broadcast).
If you connect using composite cables or tv tuner. Video Studio gives you the option of detecting the field order.
Play the camera
Go to Options (cogwheel)
Select ‘Change Field Order’
Select ‘Detect’
This will indicate/change the source field.
Hope this Helps
