Cannot view jpg/bmp created with PI 12

Post by jwitzsch »

Hi
I have been sent jpg's and bmp's from a collegue, who created them with PI 12. I cannot view them, neither with Windows Picture Viewer nor with any other viewer software. Not even Outlook Express previews the attachments.
HE can also only view them on the computer, where PI 12 is installed, and also is only able to import them to f.e. Corel Draw on that very computer. On any other computer, he also fails to view or import them, be it from CD, an USB-Memory Stick or via Email....

Any suggestions on what to do (any options in PI 12, any special export recommendations?)

Thanks
Joerg

How did he "create" the bmp or jpg files? I strongly suspect that these files are in the PI natvie UFO format. Hence, these can only be viewed in PI.

Thanks for the answer

honestly, I don't know. But I am a PI user myself, and if I have a UFO and save it as a bmp or a jpg, then it IS a bmp or a jpg and not something associated with PI at all. THAT is the strange thing, that happened - he did not send an UFO, he sent a BMP and a JPG, and both cannot be opened, unless PI 12 is present on the computer. Some kind of "Bad header"-issue? Some kind of "PI 12 named it bmp, but in reality, it is something else"-issue? Don't know....

Now I honestly don't know either. I have used PI for a long time and never encountered anything like it and I have used all sorts of file formats. Maybe his is a corrupted installation? Did he try a reinstallation?

The fact that he cannot open his own files on his other computer tends to suggest the files are faulty and this is why you cannot open them either.

It appears your friend has a corrupt installation and needs to try reinstalling it.
