I was not aware that MSP8 has this facility. I haven't found it yet. Can you explain where it is please?

I have never been able to capture from a DVD using the method stated on this forum either. Don't know why, but the capture button is never activated even when I change to the "DVD Import" capture plugin!

Are you hitting the "Record" button, and then browsing to the DVD (either folders or dis) :?:

Once it opens up the dvd, you have to select a box in the tree structure to enable the Import button.

George,
As far as I can remember the "record" button didn't become active at all, so I could not press it. I never got to browse anywhere!
I tried doing it a few times about 6 months ago and when I couldn't get any joy, I stopped trying.

I will give it another try and report back to you what the exact results are.

As mentioned in my previous post I use Video Studio, I don't use MS, so maybe this isn't relevent.
I never use the capture bit of the program. I rip the files onto my hard drive and the import them into the program the same as you would for any graphics or sound effects that you would use.
I assume that by using the capture part of the program that you are still relying on the power and speed of the video card.

Thankyou Fellows and maybe GALS for the help!

Anyway I have ventured into new ground in that Ive changed software to videostudio 10 plus by Ulead. Wow this is more user friendly for me that is. There is a wizard that starts up and yes I can extract my DVD file to the hard drive and edit them.

Im not sure but mediastudio pro ver 8 has no wizard start up screen!

Anyway its easy to get the files to the hard drive but,,,,,,,, what a great wait and strain on my processor. Whoweee Im flabergasted of the time it takes for it to give a finalised dvd file ready to burn.

Oh well at least it works. Thanks peoples. I think I need a 3 gigahertz processor with 250 gig HD 1 gig RAM and some firewire to get the next Lord of the rings happening, LOL.
