VideoStudio SE VCD 8.0 issue with file conversion.
I've got a 80041c21 error, but I can't seem to find out what patch specifically to download for this version. The 8.0 patches don't work since mine's SE, and I really need to be able to convert files for a school project I'm doing. Could anyone lend me a little friendly help?

Welcome to the forums,
That error means absolutely nothing to me. Can you describe what you were doing when you received that error? There may be something else that can be done to correct this.
As you learned, the patches do not apply to SE or TBYB versions. I would also ask what Operating System you are running? If it is Vista, then the only version that will run on Vista is VS10 or 10+, after being patched.

Thanks for welcoming me.
Well, I'm trying to make a VCD disc, and about 1% into converting the file into VCD format, it says it can't do it, and that error pops up. If I try to do it outside the Movie Maker on my own, it converts that 1% into a VCD file that doesn't play very well at all.
I'm running XP Home Edition.

That particular error code is usually associated with using as your source material .avi video files which are in reality highly compressed DivX or XVid formats.
I suspect you have probably put that material in your project, and either have not first gone to to Share > Create Video File > VCD to produce a VCD compatible mpeg-1 file of the whole project, or else Video Studio is choking on those files wherever you happen to be doing the conversion (most likely during the burning process itself).
If this in fact covers your situation (and you can check the actual properties of your source files by right clicking on them in Video Studio and going to Properties), then it might be an idea to first convert them to mpeg-1 using third party software such as the freeware SUPER program. Then import the mpeg-1 files into VS for editing and authoring of your VCD.

Some people have difficulty with DivX and XVid files even with VS10+ and the relevant codecs on their computer. And Video Studio 8 was relatively primitive (and problematic) compared to the more recent versions.
First, do as I suggested and right click on the files within VS to see if they do indeed say they were produced with either of those two codecs.
If they were, then do a Google search for SUPER. Then convert your files to mpeg-1. Edit in VS and burn your VCD.
