WinDVR fails to record scheduled program

I am trying to setup windvr to record my kids favorite program which was moved to a time they can't watch it live. However every time the scheduled event occurs, windvr appears to launch but the hangs.

My system is WinXP Media Center w/AMD64 cpu and 1GB of ram. If I record manually it works fine, so I know recording does work.

So my questions is "what do I need to do in order for windvr to act like the vcr used to and wake up at a scheduled time and record a show on the desired channel?"
