MSP8 - Red or shaded RED bar on timeline

Post by Spectre2007 »

I am using MSP8 and when I try and do a preview of the video it seems to inadvertantly halt at point in the video that upon inspection has a RED bar drawn in timeline section.

I have tried using the Help file and manual but cannot get RID of this section of RED (or shaded RED) bar. Right clicking does not give me anything that will remove it.

I have not set up a preview range - so this is not what the problem is (I think). But there is defintely the RED bar in the timeline - which I have NO idea how it go there - let alone how to remove it??

It is an indication of how well your system will work on instant preview. White=no problem
Pink=increasing degrees
Red=risk of pauses
The deeper the colour is an indication of the complexity of the video effects you have placed on the timeline in conjunction with the available resources of your system. It does NOT indicate a fault condition, only you don't have enough horsepower to pre-render in real time with your present settings. If you switch off the Instant Preview, it will render before playback, not on the fly, and will play smoothly.

If you go into the Instant Playback menu, you will see some adjustments on obtaining a compromise between smoothness of the preview and the quality. Don't ask me exactly what they do, because I've never gone to the bother to find out, as the settings are slightly arcane! :) (p. 90 of the manual)
