Re-editing

Post by C Bush »

I made a slide show and put it onto DVD and subsequently wished to re-edit it, add more slides and different music etc.
The editing went fine but the new show will only render for the length of the original one and not deal with the extra time now involved.
Is there a way to deal with this or do I have to start from scratch again?
Am using v9.

I am having to guess at what you were doing but I think it is possibly the 'preview range' ended at your original finish point. If so you need to move the trim handles to the new end point.

Item 12 in the above screen shot.
Alternatively, when you create a new video file, select options and select
Entrire project rather than preview range.

Tks reply. The project time is shown as 40 minutes on the editing screen which is correct, but rendering only takes place for 31 minutes when I try to put it to DVD.
The project plays without fault for the full time when running under Project on the editing screen. Trim handles do not appear to stopping at the short version.

After you have added the extra photos and finished editing, I think you are going straight to Share > Create Disc, and burning the DVD. Instead, try going first to Share > Create Video File > DVD. This should then prepare a DVD-compatible mpeg-2.

Once that is done, save the project and open a new one. **This is important.** Leave the timeline empty, then select Share > Create Disc. The burning module will then open but its own 'timeline' should also be empty. Use the 'Add Media' button at the top to insert your new mpeg-2. Make sure 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of the burning screen. Build your menus and burn.
