making an overlay show up only in a bubble

Post by mi2nc »

I am trying to design a short video based on the idea that my 9 year old son has been dreaming of us producing him a little brother. The idea is the 9yo looks at the camera and dreamily says "I wish I had a little brother." Then thought bubbles emerge from his head and I overlay some short clips of my 9yo's brother doing baby things. I have all the footage of the baby, and footage of the big brother saying his lines. I just need to know how to overlay the baby shots so they fit in one of these bubbles. Please direct me to a post or some thoughts on how to do this. I am createing this for both my wifes outlaws and my outlaws, both of whom live in other parts of the country.

That's pretty easy. You have the clip of your son in the main track. Put the baby pics in the Overlay track. With a clip in the Overlay track selected, the Attribute tab will be active. Click on the Mask & Chroma Key button, then click on the Apply Overlay Options Box and choose Mask Frame from the Type box. Click on one of the Mask Frames to choose it. It will automatically Chroma Key out the black. You can resize your clip by adjusting the yellow trim handles or move it by clicking and dragging.

You can also fade in/out the bubble with the buttons below the Direction/Style Enter/Exit buttons.

Thanks Black Lab. I see your responses all over the place here and often think of my Choc Lab I had for 11 years. Seeing as he introduced my wife and I, we had him stand up in our wedding. thats how close he was to us.

That is a cool dog.. I had a golden retriever, and my biggest worry was taking her to the park and throwing a frisbee and she would jump into the first open car door on other side of park..
