video studio 10 terminates on share file creation

Post by timryan »

Good News video studio 10 works. I can edit to my hearts content.

Problem: When I go to create a video file by selecting the Share tab, I click the settings I want (example file type AVI) screen take about a second or two and then Video Studio simply dissapears, no crash, no fatal error, just seems to go bye bye, almost like it's minimized but nowhere to be seen. I check Task Manager and sure enough vstudio.exe appears to still be running, but the usage numbers are not changing, all other aspects of the computer working fine, nothing else is slowed down. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Video Studio from backups, no luck.

Other program affected (Premier, also will not create files) difference is Premier window stays open (doesn't vanish). My guess is a setting in XP must be interferring with this type of function, but for the life of me I don't know.

Recent changes, got rid of Norton, and am currently using Windows Live One Care.

Give this a try.

1. Clean up temporary files using Windows disc clean up.
2. Uninstall VideoStudio (please use clean uninstall method)
3. Delete all temporary converted files in VideoStudio's working folder
4. Reinstall the software
5. Apply applicable patches
6. Try to rerender

And if you have installed a mega codec pack, uninstall it. They are more trouble then they are worth most of the time unless you pick and choose the codecs you want, rather than installing the whole shebang...

Thanks for the advise,

The problem seemed to be in the installed codec pack, by removing and re-installing codecs seems to have fixed the problem for now. Did not have to reinstall VS10.

Thanks again

Good call Ken. We'll have to start calling you the Magician. You pulled that one out of thin air.
