ULEAD save problem

Post by chum94555 »

Hello When I capture a few clips using VS 10 plus and then save them as ULEAD UVS project format to come back to it for edit AT a later time how can I save so that while reopening all clips show up as clips in the time line JUST AS i HAD CAPTURED?

My problem is when I reopen the ULEAD project it shows up as one big clip rather than small clips as captured? THIS IS PERHAPS SIMPLE THING THAT I CANNOT FIGURE OUT. Pl help

thanks

You don't say how your are "saving" your project, but it sounds like you are going to Share > Create Video File which will, in fact, render all your clips to one complete video file.

To save your project go to File > Save As and save it as a VSP (Video Studio Project) file. You can edit, save, and re-open that file as much as you wish. When you are finally finished your editing, then you want to Share > Create Video File to create a DVD compatible MPEG-2 file (if your final output is to DVD). Once that is complete start a new project (so you have an empty timeline), go to Share > Create Disc, and insert your MPEG-2 into the timeline for burning.

Read the Suggested Workflow for more info.

Thanks and yes I am saving under file as you suggested using VSP format but is there diffrence if I use SAVE vs SAVE AS? I understand what you are saying and am doing same but I may be using SAVE and not SAVE AS under file?

thanks

Okay, you start a new project. Add some clips, do some editing. Now it's time to quit for the day. If you are saving it for the first time and click File > Save, the Save As box will open so you can name your project for the first time. Let's call it Project A. So now you come back the next day and click File > Open Project and choose Project A and it opens. All your individual clips, titles, transitions, etc. should be there. You add some more clips, make some edits, etc. When you are done for the day you click File > Save and your project will be saved as Project A again.

Correct, or, on the beginning of the second day open Project A and do a save as Project A1. Project save files are very small as they only contain the project information and not the video itself. I sometimes do this because I might comeback on day three and say "what the heck was I thinking yesterday"

Thanks but somehow my problem remains. I am sorry

I did this, captured 5 clips using UVS 10plus, I have them in time line. I added some text title, audio and transition. Then I went under FILE (and not under SHARE) and did SAVE AS project 123 in .VSP format.

Next day I WENT TO OPEN pROJECT 123.VSP AND AT this point I was expecting all to be how I saved that is 5 individual video clips in timeline, text title in text , audio in audio and transition betwen clips. HOWEVER what I found was project123 opening as one big clip which has all of the above combined and not on individual timeline. So now if I need to change say title or text , how can I do this?

Is there anything I need to do in Prefrences or Project properties area? PL HELP

thanks again

This may seem like a basic question (but I'm stumped), how are you looking at the timeline after you re-open your saved project - in Storyboard view or Timeline view?

chum94555 - - are you SURE it is opening as just one big file ??

When you re-open a project in will appear as one continuous video in the timeline, but it is in fact still a lot of seperate videos and titles etc. just laid end to end - try clicking on a piece of the video somewhere near the centre of the timeline - does the whole timeline get selected - that is do the yellow handle only appear at the very start and the very end - or is it just an individual clip which highlights and thus means that you are still all individual and can continue to work.

Also as a check change to 'Storyboard' mode - do you now have just one picture in a block or do you have a number of pictures in blocks.

Thanks all. Either way I look, tilmeline or story board, it shows ONLY as one big clips instead of small 5 clips with title clips, audio clis and transition. I just could not understand how to fix this. Pl help

Also it is one complete clip of the length of a total 5 clis added so all clips are now in one clip. I need them to show up as individual clips.

thanks

Do me this favor:
1. Drag VS sample clips V06 & V07 to the timeline.
2. Click on File > Save As and save it to your desktop as Test. Make sure you save it as a VSP.
3. Click on File > New Project.
4. Click on File > Open Project and choose Test.vsp from your desktop. What do you have now in the timeline?
