Movie Factory 6 Plus - No Burner Detected

Post by Mr. Wolf »

I previously used DVDMF 3SE and had this fully functional.
I was using:
Pioneer DVR-107D
Pioneer DVR-109D
CyberDrive CW038D

I had no problems with any of these drives.

I now have a new computer with:
CyberDrive CW038D - Old Drive
2x Pioneer DVR-112D

All other programs including burning software function correctly with these burners. I have no DRAG & DROP software or similiar on the system.
Ulead DVD Movie Factory 6 Plus obviously fails to install driver related info.
I have tried to uninstall & re-install various times with no success.
Could anyone please advise as to the location of the relevant files, that store the burner drive info. So that I may replace files with correct files manually.
I even tried to install - CD-DVD Burning Pack Update, however this update is not compatible with MF6 or Vista.

* NOTE: I only purchased new version to upgrade when realised old version not compatible with VISTA.

Any Assistance greatly appreciated as ULEAD software not functional at all due to no burners being present. I feel as though this is huge waist of money & time.

ULEAD customer service are of no help due to no correspondance to dozzens of e-mails that I have sent.

Info: Some packet-writing software is installed such as Nero¡¦s InCD and Roxio¡¦s Direct-to-Disc.

Possible Solution: Uninstall all burning software that has packet-writing capability including DVD MF6 Plus. Reinstall DVD MF6 Plus program

There are instances that doing this solution wont always solve the problem.

As previously stated I have no burning software that has packet-writing capability on my system.
I have even verified this in registry by undertaking manual clean up of no longer used programs.

I have lost count of number of times that I have uninstalled & reinstalled the Ulead DVD MF6 Plus. This repeated process just wastes my time & energy and does not resolve the issue I have, with the program not acknowledging any burning devices on the system.

To clarify the only burning software I have on the system at this point in time is:
CloneDVD2
CloneCD
InterVideo DVDCopy5 (Came with Ulead DVD MF6 Plus)

These programs work & function correctly.

However all other programs that came with Ulead DVD MF6 Plus - Have ERROR - NO BURNER DETECTED

* As far as I can tell the problem lies with the BURN NOW software, with-in Ulead. This software refuses to detect Burning Devices and therefore all problems I am having evolve around this issue.

I think you may have to un-install all the burning software to make any headway.
CloneDVD2
Clone CD
WinDvdCopy5

Pretty sure the Clone programs use a direct driver to write the drives in raw mode. That driver may be hiding the drives and won't release them.

I removed all burning software from my system and records from registry.
I then re-installed Ulead DVD MF6 Plus on it's own.
However this did not rectify problem and therefore no conflict exists with other software.

* Unable to select burner in BURN NOW software.
* No Burner Detected - when running Ulead DVD MF6 Launcher

htchien,
Unable to post screen shots on forum as I don't know how. Never done this b4. Assist me & I will post what I can.

This may be worth a try to re-install & re-register the dvd drives.
You can re-register the dvd drives again under hardware / device manager.
In XP
Log in as Administrator, or will administrative privileges.
Goto the hardware / device manager.
Right_Click on the dvd writers and select "Un-Install" (one at a time for both)
Then after the dvd drives are NOT listed (because they were removed).
Right_Click on the top Icon that says "Computer" and select "Scan for hardware changes". The drives should be re-detected and installed back again which can correct some registry entries.

Also under the "Properties -> Security Settings" of each drive make sure that Users have enough rights to use the drive(s).

I am using Vista Business, However I tried this and even tried manually removing all registry links to all drives on system, and these steps were still unsuccessfull in resolving problems.
As problems only exist with Ulead software. All other software including Windows OS operating normally with drives.

* I finallly have had some contact from Ulead. I recieved automated response from last e-mail that I sent and it stated that they would look into matter and contact me when they can. I am not holding my breath as I have had no response from previous dozzen or so e-mails that I sent to Ulead.

There are plenty of FREE image hosting sites available.
The one I use on this forum quite extensively is

Let us try and narrow it down to if its a software or detected hardware problem.

On this screen shot you supplied (which clearly shows you have 2 RW optical drives) and you have 'Select Burner' in the dropdown list of the toolbar.

What options does that give?
At least one option should be to select a [Disc Image File]
If that can be selected then we know it may possibly be a detection problem.
If you cannot get that far then we are looking at possibly a faulty file within MF6.

As shown in the screen shot the select burner option is not available and dulled out.

My burners seem to be installed correctly because they all work with other software & are fully functional. This includes another external USB pioneer DVR-112D, which was not installed or connected at time of screen shot.

I can not do anything with the Ulead software due to being unable to select burner.
Therefore I would have to agree it is most likely a faulty file within MF6. However Uninstalling & reinstalling software does not rectify this problem. So It would be ideal if someone could assist with which files to replace. The relevant files within Ulead MF6 that store DEVICE data.

I can select a disc image file (Previous existing file on hard drive), however I can not burn the image using Ulead software because there is no burner detected.
