Blue screen with WinDVD and Vista

I have a problem running WinDVD 8 platinum on Vista.. Not only does it freeze.. I get a great big blue screen. This happen usually a bit out in the movie..
Then when I try to apply the patch "WinDVD_8.006.104_Patch" I get a message that claims:

" WinDVD version is invalid, uppgrade process failed"

As girly have stated earlier I'm still waiting for answers on my emails to intervideo support...

Anyone have had the same problems??
