VideoStudio Wish List for Future Versions

16 x 9 aspect ratio and overlay track
Hello,
When sizing the clip in an overlay track it is hard to get it right when the main video is 16 x 9 aspect ratio.
It would be nice to define an aspect ratio for the overlay tracks as well!

in pan and zoom, go back to the middle one
In the pan and zoom mode there use to be
a middle on.
A start/middle/end in pan that would allow you to do a little more in adjusting unless I missed it in the new versions

.srt subtitles handling
.srt imbedded subtitles may contain srt markup <i>, Video studio should deal with them.
- there should be a way to specify the ratio 16:9 or 4:3 so as the subtitles appear on the screen and not partly in the lettter box.
- There should be an additionnal parameters to indicate the desired relative position to the botton of the screen of all the subtitles.

Blue Ray support
Support for HD DVD.
(Is there a plan to support Blue Ray as well in VS11+? )

Sure you can.Yzel07 wrote:White and black fade-in options, like there are in windows movie maker.. And I know there's a black fadeout-fadein effect already, but you can't make flashes with them.

Also, check out Burgers Transitions and his B&W Flash. You can easily create your own camera flash transition. Drop a white color clip between two of your video clips. Now drop two crossfade transitions into the timeline, one on each side of the white color clip. Change the duration of the first transition to 2 frames and the second transition to 6 frames (yes, that's frames not seconds). Now change the duration of the white color clip to 8 frames. Now preview the project. You should have a nice white camera flash transition. You can always play with the durations to slow down the flash or speed it up a little more. But remember, a transition's duration can never be longer than one of the connecting clips.

4 Very simple updates to the software...
Very simple fixes...
1) Enable "insert video" "insert audio" and "open project" to retain separate "last folder opened" values. I can't be the only person who keeps them in separate folders.
2) Make the install package update Direct X for Win XP users or at least prompt us that we need to do it or we will not be able to create chapters for our DVD or preview it with the cute little remote control.
3) Give users the option of retaining our music track when we delete a video clip from the time-line with ripple editing enabled. It took me hours to figure out what was deleting my audio track.
4) Enable right clicking on a clip or transition to bring up the option of "show 'my favorite' transitions". Having to traverse to that screen every time that we move or delete a clip in the time-line is unneccesarily annoying.
And thank you VERY MUCH for putting out this package and for your support in this forum! It's amazing. My wife thinks I'm a genius again! (little does she know.)

Re: 4 Very simple updates to the software...
Your points are very valid. However, for point #3, didn't you get a message box saying "Clips related to the clips that will be deleted will also be removed. Do you want to continue?"? Simply turn off Ripple Editing for the audio track and it won't be removed.Bill Carson wrote:Very simple fixes...

Re: 4 Very simple updates to the software...
Sure, that's what i eventually did, but there must be lots of idiots like me who're rushing through their first project (vacation video) after work, overwhelmed with the new software and features and never thought that the audio track was a "clip" related to the clip that will be deleted. After adding it back in a dozen times (just a 15 second process) I just started paying attention to each edit waiting for it to disappear again... doh!Black Lab wrote:Your points are very valid. I'm sure no one wants to have to be prompted twice do confirm a delete. Maybe just change the wording of the conformation message if an audio clip is affected to "Clips (including audio) related to ..."
No big deal...

I guess Corel's thinking is, a clip's a clip, whether it's video, audio, color, title, etc.
