VideoStudio Improvments
I would like to see the following added......
1) Creating a Rendering Configuration - When I am on the Share tab/step and click to create a file. After I configure a Custome file for rendering I would like to be able to addd the configurations to the pull down so I don't have to reconfigure it later. Just like I see the Zune or IPod Settings I would like to see my settings.
2) Auto Shutdown - After rendering a file or burn a DVD I would like to Shutdown my PC. Typically I may run large jobs over night and would like PC to shutdown after its done.
3) Audio Tracks - When I pull video from a DVD it would be nice to choose audio track I want to pull off disc. Maybe this could be in the Editor rather than Rip step.

Yea, but they killed their only "pro" quality product, well 2 of them, possibly 3.Ken Berry wrote:You are missing the point though, that VS is not meant for professionals. It is a consumer level product. More audio tracks, I might be willing to concede. But surely you can use the overlay tracks already there in the "+" edition for titles...?
So, why not add all those neat features into VS.. Moving paths, 99 video/audio tracks, unlimited number of virtual timelines, ahh the list could go on.. From a "pro" consumer point of view, I'd buy future versions of VS at that price.
All of Uleads products have a look and feel that makes it so easy to migrate to a new product, IS the main reason I chose the products.

Re: Repeating My Wish again
Yep, I know... but it's the libraries themselves I would like to be able to sort. Now they are only sorted in the order they were created and that's it.Black Lab wrote:You can sort within the libraries by name or by date by clicking on the Sort Clips button above the clips.

Libraries, transitions and audio OH MY!
First off, kudos on a great product and curses for getting me hooked on editing
I have seen mentioned several times of a better system of library management, I agree, I do a lot of glorified slideshows and would like a better way to sorting the pictures out. Maybe an explorer type window where I can drag and drop clips into different directories once imported. I say this because I typically create 3 or 4 Libraries and presort the pictures, only to realize that hrm, that picture would look better in there and what the heck is that doing there. Copy and paste works but can be cumbersome where multiple mistakes lead to nuking the libraries, rebuilding the directories in windows and then reimporting.
Secondly....transitions in overlays....well this speaks volumes to creating just that perfect effect to go with a song at that perfect moment to create that perfect mood to make a stoic dad cry at his daughters wedding reception... Transitions, or even just the ability to fade a Chromo'd overlay would really help VideoStudio stand out among the Pro'Am editors.
Lastly....I started this crusade in audio back when filters involved 1/3 octave solid state EQ's and noise reduction simply meant hitting the stop button and over deviation meant the preacher was on the roll, say a prayer the compressor doesn't kill the playback..... That said, I'm more of an audio nut than a video nut, so here goes....When adjusting overlaying tracks *a voice and music* I find it excruciatingly time consuming to get my 600dpi mouse to click and drag the 1dpi *slightly exaggerated* needed to get the -3db I want on the music track to enhance the audio because it's a little quiet. While I can do much of this in Audacity, typically that involved changing the timeline if ever so slightly and we know what this means....moving lips and no audio and another hour or so resyncing everything only to trash it and start over hoping that the sample rate math and blah blah blah *I'll shut up now*.
My suggestion is this, when changing to audio mode, expand the screen a little, or at the least, make the audio tracks 'taller' in that at that point in time, you can drop your 3-5 db without headache, you can actually see the waveforms for cutting together lengthly boring amateur pastors grand daughters 12 minute screechingly annoying rendition of Amazing Grace.
My fourth suggestion is for those of us blessed with old monitors and nothing to put on the second one while editing video *well okay, I still use the daylights out of it by pulling up notepad, DVCalc and countless other glancing information tools* I would like to see the ability to place the libraries *back to library management* in their own 'window' or sub window or something so when I add a picture, place transition, adjust transition, I don't have to reselect that library, it's there to grab the next picture. I know it sounds like laziness but it does reduce mouse clicks and can greatly reduce the confusion of, crap, where am I at now, was I going up the stairs or coming down?
Hopefully you find some of this useful and thanks again for creating a great program and a productive addiction.

Audio master in the audiomixer
Of all audiomixers I have seen, both in realword or as software, It doesn't matter if it was cheap or expensive...
I never came across one missing a master audio level !
, until I tried Videostudio.
Now that there isn't any control of the total audiolevel, how does VS do if the sound gets to loud ? I haven't yet discovered any ugly digital clippings in the "create videofile" result.
Does it implement some kind of autolimiting process if the total audio level gets to high or does it lower all other tracks levels, or what ?
I want some control over this or at least an explenation how it works.
Ok I can go for media studio pro but come on now.... an audio master level control in the mixer is a must.

My Wishlist
Both of my wishes are available in other video-editing suites that I use on occasion, which is how I found the usefulness of them:
1. I would very much like to be able to specify a name for each new video file as I capture it (from whatever source - camera/phone/DVD etc) rather than be forced to accept the UVS default based on date/time/number.
2. I want much more control over the auto-scene detection function in the Auto Chapter module of the DVD creator- ie I want to be able to adjust the sensitivity of the search function, and to specify a minimum time between chapter markers.

Re: VideoStudio Wish List for Future Versions
Sorry I don't know the correct method to contribute to this discussion, so I'm doing it this way!
My wish is for better menu templates. Good God, as a qualified art teacher I allow myself to say the Ulead templates are terrible! Pure kitsch! Quite unusable! Fortunately Nero offers a few better ones (but 90% are equally revolting!) Who designs these templates? Much the same applies to the music offered with Ulead, but fortunately you don't have to use it! Excuse my emphasis, and I admit others may be of different opinion.

Please keep any suggestions sensible - plus this is not a place to complain about what YOU may consider to be bugs or faults. Those items should be placed in a new thread or tagged onto an existing one dealing with that same issue.

Re: VideoStudio Wish List for Future Versions
As I alluded to in the other thread, Gisela, the menus are almost fully customizable. You can change the background & music, move & hide buttons, use thumbnails or text, etc.Gisela Richter wrote:Sorry I don't know the correct method to contribute to this discussion, so I'm doing it this way!
