Sonic Fire Pro allows opening and inserting your audio/video clips directly into MSP. Once you're finished with your music composition, you can export it directly into MSP.Ken Berry wrote:Clevo -- I would be interested to know exactly what you mean by greater integration with Sonic Fire.

I would like the ability to change the duration (speed if you will) of a multiple clip project right on the time line. For instance I have 20 images in the video track for a montage that have a duration of six seconds each for a total of two minutes. I then insert music with a duration of 2 minutes 45 seconds. I would like to grab the entire video track (complete with ripple editing capabilities for titles and overlays to lengthen accordingly) and change it's duration to 2:45 and have each of the twenty images (and transitions if there are any) to expand in a linear fashion along with overlays and titles (if ripple editing is enabled for those tracks).
Currently I accomplish this by rendering the video portion of the project into an MPEG file which I can insert on the video track as a single clip in a new project. Then add the music and adjust the clip to match duration. This works well but sometimes I find It would be nice to move one image to a new position for timing effect once I see it along with the audio. I then have to cut up my single MPEG clip to accomplish this which adds significantly to tweaking and rendering time. Not to mention the one extra rendering step to create the mute MPEG clip.
Also I second the motion to be able to delete all transitions in a project with a single command. Or how about being able to use the ctrl key and select multiple clips to then assign attributes to such as duration, pan and zoom etc. That has also been mentioned.
I have tried many strategies to ease the creative flow of timing and duration for this type of project and have discovered no work arounds what would accomplish what I describe in a time saving manner. If someone has any tips I am all ears.
Thanks,
John

I would like to endorse 'sl2008's comments in the 'VS Pro wish list' and have these suggestions included in the next version of Video Studio.
These are:-
Quote " More HD support. Why is the 5.1 audio editing only available with standard definition ?
-Use of all CPUs. Quad core CPUs are now very common and much cheaper. VS11+ doesn't use all the available resources.
-More AVCHD support. 70% of new HD camcorders are shipping with this format in 2008. We should be able to edit M2TS files and also output in the same format. File conversion is a terrible thing as far as quality goes."

Library Enhancements
Here's some of my thoughts, apologies if some of these have been covered before. I've just recently starting using VideoStudio 11 to capture and edit a lot of old video and my main gripe is with the bare bones Library functions. Here are some of the things I would like to see.
1. Ability to edit the actual file name. Editing just the name on the thumbnail is of minimal use and doesn't show up outside of the program.
2. When I capture video, the date information is visible but it doesn't get saved with the file when I capture.
3. On that note, there is *nothing* that lets you add information about the video such as date, description, etc. so I know exactly what it is when I go to create movies/DVDs/etc. I am actually having to use a second program just to tag all my files with dates/description/etc. which really should not be necessary. It doesn't seem to show up in VS either, so I have to have the other program open just to view my video clip info.
4. There really needs to be better clip management included. For instance, I did a lot of captures and realized I needed to better sort them into subcategories. Okay, I have a function to create a new sub-category...but no way to actually move the files! I have to manually delete all the thumbnails, then drop out of the program and move them in File Explorer and then reimport them into my new category. What an incredible hassle!
Those are the highlights. I have some other minor things that I think other people have mentioned but these are the things that really makes using the software a lot more tedious than it needs to be.

forgive if duplicated
I don't see a concise list of features and I see there are over 14 pages of posts to look at to see if anyone else already posted my feature requests. So I'll post these and see if it does any good.
Two things I frequently do with MSP8 that I can't do with VS11.5+.
1. I frequently crop 4x3 media to 16x9. I don't see any way to do that. In MSP8 I applied a moving path then sized and positioned it appropriately.
2. I normalize the audio track on the video. Only way to do any audio editing in VS is to split the audio from the video. This is really ugly and reduces the number of audio channels I can work with.

It should happen soon. All this wait time was a good incentive for me to evaluate what the competition has to offer. And I found interesting stuff out there...Bignosetw wrote:There's going to be a bunch of very happy guys soon ...
Oops, did I say something?
- key frame motion path
- lots of video/audio/title tracks
- smart render that works
Come on Corel, it is time to show what you have.

Hopefully they are taking their time to get it right.

Video Studio 12 is coming?
I read in the asian section of Ulead/Corel that Videostudio 12 is availible for the customers now. Is this the new and enchanged version, or is it similar to VS 11.5?
Oeps, sorry. Search first before you post......

I alreay wrote all this via the feedback form, I think it's good to repeat it here:
1. The greatest of all (at least for me) would be the ability to drag the trim selection of the clip inside its own timeline (i.e. to shift the contents of a clip while keeping its length in the timeline unchanged). As far as I know only Abobe Premiere offers such a feature.
2. Moving clips in the timeline freely, without gluing to one another (it's really bugging me). I understand when there's a transition effect, but why not (optionally) when there's none? That glueing messes all the sync.
3. Titles should be treated as usual clips, currently it's even impossible to make them fade in/out.
4. Snap to grid in title editing works bad, it would be better for it to work as a hard snap, not like magneting. Also centering/alignment of several selected objects should treat them as one object.
5. A way to make AVC blu-ray discs, the specifications allow that.
6. Custom settings for AVCHD export from the 'Share' section, such as bitrate. Currently there are none, I even can't select another frame rate!
