1920x1080 vs 1440x1080

Post by whitejames »

I have a Canon HV10. Has anyone else with this camera been able to get HD video unto their computer? Sony's cameras record in 1440 where as Canon's record HD at 1920. Does Video Studio work with the 1920x1080 resolution?

Have you applied the HV10 support pack?

Yes, although install took like one second to finish. So I don't know if my computer is just that fast or the install was that little or maybe it didn't install. The Vista update and SP1 install were the same. The green bar flew across in 1 second then it said install was finished. ??? Maybe I should try reinstalling everything from scratch again.

HV10 does use 1920 sensor to "see" what you are filming but will dowsample to 1440 when registering to tape ( this is standard like the sony camcorders and has to do to tape limitation)

Oh, OK, I was wondering about that.

Anyway, did a clean reinstall and now everything is working well.

Thanks

According to the advertisements the Canon unit is supposed to be able to record both 1920x1080 & 1440x1080

HDV = 1440x1080
HD = 1920x1080

Hello Etech
I know that 1440 is normaly registered to HV20 tape
Heard that 1920 will only register to a connected PC and not on tape?
Is this true ?
