Welcome to the forums,
Unfortunately no there is no patch. The current version VS10+ does have a patch for Vista, however it just barely allows it to work. I don't believe that VS8 or VS9 will be patched to work with Vista.
More then likely within the week, Corel will be releasing VS11, VS11+. It, like DVDMF6 is fully Vista compatible.
So if you still want to run VS8, then you will need to use it on a PC that runs WinXP.

Release as time wise, or the program itself the same for both? Generally they release at about the same time. EU may see it a little earlier then US, due to the time difference. The programs should be identical for the EU and US..
Also what I would do, is go ahead and download the TBYB (trial) version of VS10+. It will be good for 30 days. Now for some reason I'm real certain that VS11 will be out sometime this week. You could then download the TBYB version of VS11. You will get to see the difference between them. However once VS11 is released, you will no longer be able to get VS10.
Anyhow a means that you could get a hands on of both versions..
