I am (and have been) creating DVDs from imported DV. I have now found and started using the normalise audio filter, but on one clip it actually distorts the sound. There is nothing wrong with the source audio. It plays fine as a pre-converted DV AVI file.
I found this excellent article on using audio filters http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=9909
As recommended I am now splitting the audio on all clips. I have one reasonably (but not excessively) loud clip that when conveted to MPEG and played back on DVD or PC, the audio sounds absolutely terrrible, like it is totally red lining and breaking up. If I then remove the normalise audio filter and recreate the MPEG the problem is solved. Any ideas why this might happen? Do I have to start using other audio filters to compensate for some effect the normalise audio filter may be having?
normalise audio filter is causing sound to break up

VideoStudio is a fine video editor, but isn't that great an audio editor. Whenever I have problems with audio thru VS I usually turn to Audacity, a great little (and FREE) audio editor.
