Hi.
I recently reinstalled Windows XP SP2 after a corruption of the registry.
I'm currently installing and testing all the applications and what struck me is that I don't seem to be able to capture in mpeg2 format anymore. This used to work! As far as I can remember, the mpeg2 format had to be selected from the dropdown menu of the capture tab.
Anyway, I can select MPEG but after a few seconds it goes back to DV. Same thing goes for the format DVD.
Can anyone explain this to me and how can I capture to mpeg2?
Cannot capture in mpeg2 format

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I'm using Firewire. And if I go to "Change Capture Plugin" then I can see 4 possible selections:vidoman wrote:Are you capturing using Firewire? If so you should be able to capture to a variety of formats, including MPEG-2.
Have you went to Tools>Change Capture Plug-in, and change the Capture Plug-in to the MPEG capture plug-in?
Ulead DirectShow Capture Plugin
Ulead MPEG4 Capture Plugin
Ulead HDV Capture Plugin
Ulead DVB-T Capture Plugin
Directshow is currently selected. MPEG4 cannot be selected. HDV en DVB-T do not work at all.

Your install may be corrupt. You should show in the Capture Plug-in choices,
- Ulead DirectShow Capture Plug-in
- Ulead DSW MPEG Capture Plug-in
- Windows Media Format Capture Plug-in
- Ulead MPEG4 Capture Plug-in
- HDV Capture Plug-in
- DVB-T Capture Plug-in

No I didn't, I simply used Add/Remove Programs of the control panel..sjj1805 wrote:Are you following the recommended uninstall/reinstall procedure as outlined

After reading your post I followed the recommended uninstall procedure... and yes, this solved the problem
It surprises me a bit too. How is the average user supposed to know this procedure? Obviously the uninstall program isn't perfect and if you would not have given me this uninstall procedure, I would never have been able to reinstall VideoStudio properly.
