Have you tried deleting it directly from the Windows Explorer/Recycle Bin folder?

By the way, you have to be careful with Vista because it even allows you to delete the recycle bin!

In windows I remember a similar issue and the problem was I had an illegal character in the filename. I could create the file but not directly delete it.
Maybe try renaming to the file to another simple name.

Thanks etech6355, but how would I rename it being that it is in the bin??

1. If you're using Norton the Recycle Bin might be protected.
Right click on it to empty it.

2. You can try Dr. Delete to delete stubborn files.

Note..... I'm using Windows 2000 so your mileage may vary! :)

Thx again for the reply.....

Not using Norton and how would I "browse" for the item in the recycle bin for Dr Delete. Meaning I would have to find that file in the browse mode and am not sure where to look for it.

Thanks again

Probably in Windows Explorer like sjj1805 mentioned.

Maybe right click on the file in the Recycle Bin to see where
it's located.

I tried a test file, deleted it, and right clicked on it in
the Recycle Bin. It shows the location.

I use Dr Delete mostly for virus files but I was thinking
maybe it would help you too!

You can also post your problem in the computer forum at VideoHelp.com

There are a lot of helpful folks over there and questions are usually
answered quickly!

Could be a windows rights issue (protected file), or you don't have ownership of the file.

Have you tried running "Disk Cleanup" or a windows vista system cleanup utility.
Sounds like a Vista issue, I would go to a windows forum and ask this question.

Shaddow57 if you look through the forums you'll notice your perhaps the only member using a Moving Avater it's not that we don't know how, they're just rather distracting.

First...roy wood...its avatar...not avater

Second...What "I" find distracting is that I am trying to find some advice for my problem and you felt you needed to reprimand Shadow57's avatar. I really don't care what his or anyone else's avatar looks like just so long as they are trying to help me. So unless you have a worth while suggestions for MY issue... post elsewhere.

Third....Thanks everyone else for the suggestions. I have tried them but still no luck. So if anyone else has a suggestions...let me know!

kevinp.....

If the file was on a portable drive plug the drive back in and try to
delete the file.

Also, here is an article that might help.....

kevinp,
I don't know how Vista works, but in XP the system flushes the oldest items in the Recycle Bin when the bin gets full. (Look at the Bin properties to see how much space you have allocated to it.) Perhaps you could adjust the size of the bin and then create&delete some large dummy files so as to exceed the maximum bin size. The problem file might get flushed. It's worth a try.

I had a file that would not delete in Vista

Post by rpwhitmore »

I had a .MPG file made by VS10 in a folder and I went to that folder to delete it and my Explorer went to using 100% of my CPU in the task manager. I would click on the file to delete it and press delete and windows would come up with estimated time to delete and sit there thinking. It was a file with 0 bytes, made by VS10 after a program error of...can not open capture file or something close to that. Anyway, I went into safe mode and had no problem deleting then.

Hey guys..thanks so much for the suggestions....but still no luck ;(

This is getting kind of crazy! Besides what's been mentioned above..I've also tried programs such as East-Tec to try to permanently delete any file that is in the bin....but that one ulead file remains.

This is a challenge for sure!!!
