What are xxx.pe4 files?

Post by Bobm03 »

On a Photo Board that I "haunt," a question was asked about ".pe4" files. i queried http://filext.com/ who said it was a Photo Explorer file and http://www.seniormag.com/compcorner/def ... listp2.htm who said it was a Photo Impact V4 file.

A reply came from a lady who said that she was still using PI 4.2 and PEX 6 and that she found ".pe4" files scattered in her photography directories. Curious, I searched my system and found them in my photo directories and also some directories used for collecting images were used in DVD Picture Show 1 & 2. A couple were called "shape wrap.pe4" and are used in DVDPS3 and MF3.

I was using PI V4.2 at the time some of these files were made, am now using PI 10. I also use PEX 8.5, DVDPS 3 and MF 3. (Yeah, I like ULead  )

What are these files? What can I use to access them? Are they worth keeping?

Just wondering.

.pe4 file is originally designed for PhotoExplorer and it been used for thumbnail cache of your pictures so your pictures can be viewed in PhotoExplorer faster.

Now it's been widely used in many Ulead products for the same purpose.

Hope this helps.
