Hi,
I have VideoStudio 10 trial.
I have a Canon MVX10i connected to my PC via firewire. I am attempting to capture video from the DV to the PC. The format is PAL.
When I connect the camera and turn it on windows detects it and prompts me to open an application, I open VideoStudio. I then go into Capture and the software starts to control the camera so it looks like the link between PC and camera is ok.
When I click on Capture it starts to capture and shows the video on the screen and it is creating the avi file on the disk. It get 5-20 seconds into the capture and then the image on the screen pauses. It then starts up again for a little while and then freezes again until I unplug the camera.
Anyone got any ideas why this would be?
Thanks,
Brenton

Sounds like it could be either
a. A faulty recording on your camcorder.
b. A faulty firewire cable
c. Bad firewire connection - check that the firewire card is seated OK on your motherboard by removing it and then plugging it back in again.
d. I have previously had similar issues due to a slightly loose hard drive IDE cable. Although they look connected OK give them a good push with your thumbs. Video Related tasks are perhaps the most intensive that your computer will deal with and will show up previously unknown problems with your computer hardware.
e. Other running processes in the background interfering with your video capture. Close all other running applications and consider creating a
Video Editing Profile
f. Faulty RAM. Download a Free RAM checking program - simply google - there are plenty available.
g. Fragmented hard drives.
