100% CPU usage immidiatly after launching videostudio
My machine is a P4 3.2GHz Processor with 1024MB Ram 320GB hard drive space (160 internal 160 USB) within the last month or so even after reinstalltation and even refomatting my computer ulead video studio runs my CPU at 100% as soon as it opens even before the splash screen disapears and stays at 100% until I close it. I have even tried using an older version of Ulead video studio that I had (VS7SE DVD) that came with my capture device and it does the same thing. I have even downloaded mediastudio trial and lo and behold the same thing. Like i said I have reinstalled and even reformatted my computer to no avail. I use the same codecs as always I am just at a loss. And yes I regularly clean my computer almost on a daily or every other day basis so spyware and adware or viruses are not the issue or bad performance due to lack of maintenance. I am just so frustrated If anyone has any Ideas please post. Thanks in advance

That certainly is not right. I just checked my system, with 37 processes running, including the internet, I launched VS10+. My CPU jumped to 100% until the splash screen. Then it dropped to 68%, and then further down to about 40% until VS had finished loading. Then the CPU returned to an idle state of about 5%. That's with all sorts of background garbage running, which I will not have during regular video editing.
When you are launching and running VS, what all applications are being run in the background? Do have instant messenger programs, anti-virus, spyware checking, auto updaters? With Task Manager, try shutting down these background apps to see if your CPU resource drops. I would think with your system you should not be pegging 100% continuously.

100% CPU usage
Thanks to all who posted!!! I resolved my issue. I have an ADS Tech usb av701 dvd xpress capture device that was causing the problem. The driver was not compatible with ulead although it worked in other capture programs. I uninstalled the driver and reverted back to a previous version and now all is working great. I also setup a hardware profile like suggested and that works real nice. My rendering speed is a lot quicker using the new user account with the new hardware profile.
sjj1805; My cpu usage is back ot 00 after ulead loads but mem usage is almost 2 times what you are showing for vstudio but I gues i can live with that aslong as the app works properly now lol Thanks.
Again Thanks to all of you for taking the time to assist me. I greatly appreciate it.

Adstech, while making good hardware, is notorious for ensuring it only works with their own software or third party software they themselves have tweaked to work with their hardware.
For capture from Adstech devices, you should ALWAYS use the program that came with the device: CapWiz. Then you open that video in VS for editing.

ADS Tech DVD xpress also came with ulead video studio 7 so figured it would work fine with 10+ too. Once i installed the service pack for vs10+ it was detected by vstudio. It's so inconvenient to have to capture with capwiz when using videostudio but capwiz does provide a better captured video in my opinion. So even though everything is working I am sticking to using capwiz. Also I have Dish Network with a dual tuner reciever and an RF remote for tv 2 and I use beyondTV to watch tv on my computer and it works fine with dvd xpress as long as i use the web interface to set it up. It wont work if i use the setup wizard. Anyways everything is working fine now and I would like to thank you all again.

Don't feel bad about using a different program to capture with. Many of us here use more than 2 or 3 programs for any single editing project. For example, when capturing from a mini DV camera, I will use a specialised capturing program called WinDV. Then I import the DV footage into VS for editing. And then I will use either DVD Workshop or Movie Factory to author and burn a disc...
