Capture Device Detection
Hello, I'm using Dazzle DV80(USB) with drivers installed. Camera is Sharp Hi8 camcorder. But all the program (DVD MF 6+) is detecting is: Intel USB webcamera & ATV. I've disconnected Intel & still no detection. Any suggestions? Please advise. Thank you

Welcome to the forums,
The Dazzle DV80 is one of those USB capture devices, that probably came with some version of Pinnacle Studio. USB "drivers" are included with windows, so there is no having to install special drivers for a USB device.
It is recommended by many, not to attempt capturing video using USB. If at all possible use Firewire (IEEE-1394, Sony's iLink). USB is fine for transferring your images from your camera to your PC, however not for transferring your video.
Next I have one of those Dazzle do-hickeys in a box I call my useless stuff. I originally thought I would list those items on Ebay, however I don't want to burden others with these things, so will probably donate them to the sanitation department.
Since your camcorder (I have a Sharp Hi-8 also), is analog, I would recommend investing in a capture card, or something like a Happauge card. You could also find a decent older Digital 8, Hi-8 camcorder that has pass-through capability, which would provide the analog to digital conversion outside your PC. I use a Sony DCR-TRV120, that I paid $200 for about 4 yrs ago. I can plug my VCRs into it, then use Firewire to connect to my PC, and capture DV.
Can you capture using the software that came with your Dazzle device? If so you could use that software to capture, then bring your video clips into DMF6+. Several of us use several different applications in our total process. So don't be concerned if you feel that you need to use different programs to accomplish certain tasks. Whatever works for you, do it. So far there is no program that does everything the best...
