How to? Text with light rays shining through or from

Post by wontonpe »

I am looking into how to make text titles with a "light shining through" effect. Where the light comes from "inside" the text and shines out from it. I would like to make the light cycle from left to right as if a light is moving behind the text.

Just throwing in an idea rather than the solution as I haven't time to set something up.

I think it is possible by using masks and layers.
In a background track you need to have the light effect moving as you mention.
Then you need a mask containing your text so that the text is allowing the light through.

Getting Closer

Post by wontonpe »

Well, I did manage to do something close to what I want. (like the titles in The Mask of Zorro) I did use a text mask & background image, as you suggest, but I need to tweek it quite a bit to get the look I am wanting. I will post my final result and describe how I figured it out. (If I do)

I have found plug-in's that do it perfectly - but I don't have After Effects or any of that other high dollar stuff to plug it into. The only one I could afford was not compatible with Ulead.
