Hi all, I just bought a Belkin Hi Speed USB 2.0 DVD Creator, the program for it is Video Studio 6, I connected it all up as explained in the booklet, I am using a panasonic video recorder hooked up to my pc. when i put the video on to play the pic and it comes through B& W, and the sound is good, but when I try to replay it back ready to add music etc there is no sound at all, when I'm puting the video onto the pc there is sound, but on the playback there is none, can someone please tell me how to fix this, the video recorder is mono so I had to buy a converter cord.
any help would be wonderful

Hi Yayla, welcome to the Forum first point on any forum if you type a message in all capitals or bold it's looked upon as SHOUTING it's an ettiquette thing.
Now to you problem, we really need to know the file details of what you've captured so right click on one of the thumbnails in the Library or Timeline and post the Video and Audio details.

Feedback after members have endeavoured to help you is not only good manners it also helps others to know if a given solution was effective. Thanks.
Video Studio 6 is getting a little old, and I don't have a manual for it, but I'll try to help a bit.
BLACK & WHITE - Have you tried a different tape? Are you trying to copy a commercial (copy protected) tape? (Some capture devices can detect copy protection, and other devices will simply ignore it and allow copying.) Is this an NTSC tape? I've heard of missing-color problems when mixing-and-matching NTSC and PAL.
SOUND - There should be a screen called Video And Audio Capture Property Settings. Make sure you've selected your soundcard/soundchip and Line-in or Aux-in. You will generally hear whatever's connected to your soundcard, but this does not mean you are recording or "capturing" it...
You can also try contacting Belkin Support. (I don't think Ulead will provide support for your "free" SE version.)
Analog capture is the trickiest part of this whole tricky digital video business.
Some capture software and capture hardware just don't work well together. Often, the capture-hardware manufacturer will supply their own capture software, or they may supply a customized version of Video Studio or Movie Factory. Your SE version may have been tweaked to work with your hardware.

thanks for help
Thanks everyone for your replies, I did ring the 1800 line and got help with the sound, alls ok now with that, still got b&w movie, the tapes I'm trying to transfer are from my video camera, later I will try the other tapes I've got but none of these are bought videos, only what I taped many years ago off tv, so they will be ok.
Sorry if i offended anyone with the bolding, never heard about the bolding, knew about the caps.
thanks for the replies
By the way I'm an oldie so don't know all the rules yet.

NoM.O
I have one of these Belkin High Speed USB DVD Creator things and came across the same problem with black and white video when I first hooked it up.
Here's the fix taken from the Belkin website (some time ago, I don't know if it is still there).
hope that helps,
peace.
Here's the fix taken from the Belkin website (some time ago, I don't know if it is still there).
EDIT:Customers call saying that in the Ulead VideoStudio software they can see the video coming through and can capture it ok but it is always in black and white. This is because the capture properties are set to NTSC (America¡¦s video standard) and not PAL (Most of Europe except France).
It does give them the option to select when installing the Ulead software but this does not seem to affect the setting, it ends up on NTSC anyway. Follow these steps to change that option.
1. Open the Ulead video studio ver 6 software, go to the capture screen by clicking the option at the top
2. Click on the options button and select ¡§Capture Properties¡¨ from the drop down list .
3. Select ¡§Video Capture Filter¡¨ from the drop down list of property types and click on the ¡§Properties¡¨ button.
4. Click on the ¡§Image¡¨ tab at the top and then in the section ¡§Video Sources¡¨ select the ¡§Pal¡¨ radio button and click ok, then ok again to get back to the main VideoStudio screen.
5. If the customer still gets a black and white image get them to disconnect the F5U228 then in add/remove programs in the control panel uninstall the ¡§High Speed DVD Creator¡¨ and reboot the pc.
Then download the latest PAL driver from our website and install it, reconnect the device (It should be redetected with the new driver) then in the VideoStudio software set the option above back to PAL.
Indeed it has. I've tried this device with full versions of VS8,9 and 10+, none of which are able to capture with the same clarity and fluidity as the copy of VS6 SE DVD supplied by Belkin.DVDDoug wrote:Your SE version may have been tweaked to work with your hardware.
