Locking titles and videos to music

Post by kennylips »

Hi,

I've just converted to using ULead as I used to use Pinacle Studio.

I create DVDs of my holiday photos and set them to music. I often insert photos inbetween other photos and this often makes them out sync with the music. Is there any way I can lock the photos and titles to a certain part of the audio track, so if a picture moves the audio moves with it?

Thanks,

Ken

What version are you using? With v10 (and maybe 9  ) you would use Ripple Editing to achieve that. The icon just to the left of the timeline enables/disables this function.

Of course it does you've made the video track longer but the audio track remains the same. You first need to cut the audio clip to fit the length of the Image/ Images you want to link it to. Select Audio track and in the Preview window find the start of the part you want and use the 'Scissors' to cut the clip move the 'Jog bar' along to a point slightly beyond the length you need and cut again.
You now have a floating Audio clip that you can position below the Image and can shorten to match the length of the image by placing the cursor (which becomes a double arrow) over the Yellow Handle at the end of the Selected clip and drag.

At this stage I find it useful to move my new finished clip temporarily up onto the 'Voice Track' so that the 'Audio track' can be used as a Workbench to import cut up more sound clips etc. Each one going up onto the voice track out of the way when it's cut and trimmed . Once you've finished delete the rubbish and move the Audio back down.

Incidently you can also use the 'Voice Track' to overlap audio tracks have a play you'll be suprised at what you can acheive.

And from now on until you get the hang of it your workflow should follow the tabs at the top of VideoStudio. After you Capture, you Edit your clips. You then add Effects such as transition, video filters, etc. Then you add any Overlays, then your Titles. Last you want to add your Audio. When it's all done you Share by creating the final product.
