I have the same problem with the german retail version.

I'm now very angry because I paid for this software and can't update them! :(

Perhaps we should give the retail version back and look for an good crack for the 8.0.6.109 Version ....

I have done a lot of new installations, may with completly refesh windows installations! There is no way to get it work. How often must i say it... You must understand that we have bought an Retail Version with Serial Number in a shop. It isn't the Online Buy Version!
And there is now way to do an Update for this Version to the newest 8.0.6.109!

Have you tried downloading the trial version and run install? It should update your existing version.

Hello Bignickfly,
yes, I did exactly this!
At the end of the update installation this error occurs:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required For this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I'm Sorry for you, but it seems intervideo is failing in providing a true software support.

if I were you I'd try unistalling windvd and clean registry from any intervideo entrys and then reinstall the trial ver and use your key to register the new install

Intervideo FAQ site:

For those who purchased the retail CD installer, you will not be able to activate the software from the web version installer (trial download). The serial number will only work on the on the CD installer setup so it has to be installed from the CD.

If your installation CD has been damaged and is still covered by the warranty period, please forward this issue to the retail store you bought it from. Make sure you bring the requirements like the purchase receipt and the complete package (box and manual included).

I am not from Ulead, Intervideo or Corel, like you I am a customer and so can only make an educated guess.

It seems to me that if you download and install an Intervideo product from the internet it requires an internet activation. If however you bought a CD from a shop it will have with it a serial number and will not require internet activation.

They will have different installation systems and so you could not activate one requiring a serial number and you cannot use a serial number with one requiring internet activation.

This is how I interpret the above link from the Intervideo web site.

Currently all of the Moderators and Senior members of this User Forum are customers of the former Ulead Company which has recently been merged with Intervideo. Hence our limited knowledge of Intervideo products, but we are doing what we can to assist our new forum members.

@sjj1805:

thanks for trying to help!

Yes it's right that I do not have to activate the retail version buyed in a shop. It's activated automatically after installation.

But this can't be a reason for Intervideo that I never can do an update for by bought WinDVD... this means I have to pay two times! One for the retail version and one for the online version to do an update. Or there will be an seperat update for retail versions... but where is it??

And I will need updates! Because the Trimension feature in Windows Vista don't work.

I think you can understand my anger?
