You simply separate the sound from the audio and make your cuts, as their names imply like a J or an L.

Any news on Video Studio 11?

The church computer is a Dual Core AMD 4400 with 3 gigs of RAM, soon to be 4 gigs.
If I am not changing formats such as DV to QT, it will compile significantly faster than real time. That is why all of the editing is done in one format, when the final product is finished then the change is made to the new format. A DV movie converted to a QT movie with compression can take about 3 to 4 times real time.
Our minister of music had listed on the order of service that we would use a CD for playback on a song that they were doing. At 9:30 AM Sunday morning he tells me, "Oh, I meant for you to use the track from the video that we preformed for Easter."
We start running the 'Announcement Loop' at 10:05 AM.
Find that song in the middle of a video piece, find a good 'in', put a black jpeg image to cross fade in with sound fade in, 'out' at the first black frame with sound fade. Compile in DV, and get approval, then compile to QT for playback in the SundayPlus program.
After finding the correct 'in', the only time consuming item was the convert to QT, for a 6 minute video clip, 18 minutes
I have been pushing VS10 over at the SundayPlus Video Playback site to handle the video editing chores that we have to do. I know of 1 for sure and several that have tried or are using the program now for their video editing needs.

The reason for which I asked if UVS11 (or 11+ ?) will support transition effects in the overlays tracks, is because:
1-.it obviously interests me: in fact it is the most important thing for me !...
2-.but also because we have some doubt on the future of MSP... so if UVS11/11+ supports this feature, it may be a sign for MSP future as well...
Just my 2 cents contribution...

Daniel, RailRoadGuy,
Thought this might be helpful for technical differences between XP & Vista.
Personally I'm using XP-SP2 and will be patient for hardware/software to catch up to Vista.
Win2000 accesses 1 processor. Most processors today are HT/dual/dual-core
I thouht this was a good quote on the difference between XP & Vista. This is why programs need to be compiled for Vista due to it's Base OS is different than XP.

XP was written to handle two phycial processor and not one that can multi-thread. Vista, being brand new, is able to truly utilize a processor with multiple cores and multi-threading, this is for Core 2 Duo processors.

I will be building a new Vista box and use it for video as well as the new Photoshop and a host of other new programs later this summer. I was just hoping I could hold off a bit longer.
I plan on a KVM switch so I can continue to use the 2000 box for all my other work. My office is getting smaller and smaller

Does not work for all of us. My machine now does not have the real horse power to push Vista much less the video card and god knows how many drivers.sjj1805 wrote:Two words..... Dual Boot.
Yes, I could build a new machine and dual boot that, but then I would still have to reinstall all my old programs on the 2000 side which is what I am trying to avoid, so in my case at least, two systems on the floor and KVM switch will work out better and more piratical.
