Any news on Video Studio 11?

Post by timiano2 »

Hi

Eagerly anticipating the next release as I'm a Vista user. I bought VS 10 for editing MPEG4 movies from my point and shoot Casio S770. I went down the Vista route, and errr, none of that works.

I hear that Ulead release schedule is usually in April for new releases of VS. So, has anybody heard anything?

Cheers

Tim

When the release date is known the release will be announced on the Ulead website
http://www.ulead.com/runme.htm
It is also normal for Ulead to send out a newsletter a short time in advance of the release of a new product.

You can subscribe to Ulead Newsletters here:

MPEG-4 seems to cause lots of Ulead users trouble. (I havent tried MPEG-4 myself... MPEG-2 is bad enough! )

I have no idea if the next version of Video Studio will have an improved or more-tolerant MPEG-4 codec. But, of course you can try the free-trial version when it's available. (These "lossy" compression formats were not originally intended to be edited or converted... They were just supposed to be played-back.)

Cheers Doug,

I know what you mean, I come from a DV background. For family holidays and trips away, a very small portable mpeg4 recorder is ideal. I can't be bothered lugging around a DV camera, and a pocket stills, hence my decision to sacrifice some quality for ease of use.

Everybody loves the mpeg4 clips that I take of them, and they are way above the quality of mobile phone videos, so there is a happy medium.

Lossy or not, a few simple crossfades and wipes shouldn't pose too much problems. VideoStudio 10 on XP is excellent at it. That's why I'm eagerly anticipating the next release that will support Vista.

Windows Movie Maker 2 edits MPEG4 with zero fuss...but its crap. Ho hum!

I have received an invitation from Corel-Ulead's Aussie distributors Lako Pacific, to attend a Movie & DVD making seminar In Adelaide on 23rd May. This seminar will deal with VideoStudio Ver 11 and DVD Moviefactory Ver 6.

I will be attending. Release of VS 11 must be just around the corner.

Don't you think by May 23rd our TBYB downloads will be expired and we all know all about it?
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.

Ken,

Maybe it's because Can't-berra is out in the sticks mate and is not on the circuit. Besides Adelaide, the seminars will be held in :

Perth 22/5
Melbourne 24/5
Brisbane 28/5
Sydney 29/5

I wouldn't let that stop me. I would think that they would be in need of an Ambassador in there list of distinguished guests. If they ask for your invitation, just blame it on your personal assistant, or secretary. ;)

The second article (dated 18 April) at least seems to confirm that VS11 handles both AVCHD and video using the H264 codec...

But the Ulead website still does not advertise it...
