Smartsound and VS10

Post by MrA »

I need a couple of the the smartsound cd's from the Ulead web site, and before I complain to customer service, I need to know if anyone else has a problem playing any of the demo stuff on the web.

I know this is asking a lot, but, if someone could, try playing the samples and posting which ones did not work for you. (the sample packages, not the actual song, i.e., if an actual song did not play, but others in the sample did, thats different, I am not concerened about that)

I am just trying isolate if it's me or the web site, some play others don't.

the themes that would not play for me are:Christmas,Blockbuster 11, Vacation 11, comedies, memories.

But...i would not bother Intervideo,Ulead about the problem as the samples are from Smartsound.

Thanks, that link worked.. LOL, I bought it anyways, without hearing the demo.. Something I do not reccomend, but, being Smartsound, I was confident on the purchase. Now I am pleased with the purchase...

This thread caused me to take a look at the offer on the Ulead site, of which I was previously unaware. I have to say that the overall price for the complete package of 15 discs is excellent -- that is to say, incomparison to the normal US$99 price on each of the usual SmartSound discs.

I imagine these special ones are only the lower quality 22K versions instead of the higher quality 44K ones, but they are still more than enough for normal usage.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who can throw light on whether they are indeed 22K...

The SmartSound homepage says "WOW - Look New Pricing!", so I guess they must have changed their pricing strategy. There's even an offer to buy all 15 CDs for 247 US$.

Digital Juice has 2 music catalogs (called BackTraxx), one with 33 cds, the other with 28, and they each sell for $199. They don't have the "auto length" music that SmartSound offers, but each of the full-length DJ songs also come in :60, :30, & :15 length versions (1000+ cuts in each library). They are extremely high quality.

They also have what they call StackTraxx libraries. With these songs you can pick and choose what instruments play on a given track. Don't like the keyboards? De-select it. Very cool. They are $99 per library and come with about 20 full-length cuts as well as the :60, :30, & :15 versions (about 125 cuts total).

They also have SoundFX libraries offering over 27,000 sounds.

All their products (they also have great video elements) are royalty free. I highly recommend them.

Just a heads up, I bought one of the cd's, @ 29.95, but, shipping was 12 bucks US, and USPS. (American Postal Service, i.e., snail mail). May not affect everyone, but, were I live, mail service is not quite back to normal. (as an example, I bought a full install of Windows XP pro, which was mailed USPS and the idiot delivered it to the wrong address, so, I had to repurchase the OS.)

My thought is, at those prices for shipping, I'd buy many more than one copy at a time.. (if your wanting to use Smartsound, that is..)

I have previously purchased some of these bundles which are 22k and good value for money. The difference between 22k and 44k will depend upon what you are doing with them I suppose. Personally I didn't notice any difference but I guess my hearing isn't as good as those youngsters who go round with their boom bang a bang motor cars with the hi fi at full blast.

For the majority of our members I would have thought that bulk rather than quality may be the selling point as smartsound can work out to be very expensive if you purchase lots of them.
