Before I bought this program, I read a lot of reviews. Some people complained about the program freezing, crashing etc but not seeing a lot of alternatives, I bought the program.
Well, here I am now having the same problem. I have the video almost done. I'm trying to add chapters for the disk. When I use that little knob to the right to move frames faster, it works for a second, freezes and then crashes. I tried to let the program autoadd the chapters and then I could delete the ones I don't want but after about 70%, it crashes also. This sucks.
While I haven't completely given up, I need something more reliable but easy enough to use. Any suggestions? Cost isn't nearly as important as stability and ease of use.
I'm getting upset with VideoStudio

Suggestions for a different program or trying to get your VS to working? While I haven't completely given up, I need something more reliable but easy enough to use. Any suggestions? Cost isn't nearly as important as stability and ease of use.

Going to give this a shot but some of the info I am not familar with:
Nature of the problem:
already described above
Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?)
I think it is Mpeg-2. These are files from my hard sony handy cam hard disk drive camcorder. Size? Not sure. About 40 min worth of footage at HQ.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?
Devices? I downloaded the files from the camcorder directly to a folder. I copy and pasted the clips into VS and begain putting them into the storyboard, etc. I did read something about importing the clips instead of copy, paste but I haven't tried that yet
Project Settings
Not sure what this means
Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD)
to dvd
PAL or NTSC
going to guess NTSC but not sure. I don't think I've got that far yet. I haven't done any encoding yet. Still trying to just set up chapters.
Error Codes
The only error code is the infamous. "VideoStudio has encountered an error and must close, etc"
Hope that is enough info but feel free to ask if you need more detail. Oh and to answer your question, I would like to continue to use VS if I can get it working okay. Irony is I just bought that menu pack addon for $39. I guess I will get suggestions on another program if I can't get this thing fixed. Thanks.

Hi
Video Clip Properties
Right click a clip in the timeline or library and select properties.
Project Properties
File-Project Properties, these should ideally be the same as above.
Ntsc or Pal, as you indicated $39 I assume you are in the US and are Ntsc.
Your video clip properties should confirm this.
After editing, it is advisable to create a new video file of your project. (Share ¡V Create Video File
Then use the new file in the burner stage.
Start a new project Share-Create Disc-Add Video.
Hope this helps a little

If you load the video into the burning module & have problems using the slider to navigate, the video file is corrupt. The program can't seek within the file and is getting lost, this is actually a very common issue. What devices are involved and their mode of connection?

How did you copy the videos from your cameras harddisk? What file extension do these files have? Do they have the extension MPG or another type of extension. If they don't have the extension MPG then they are in container format and copying to the harddisk isn't the correct method.
You would either import or extract them using the softwares import dvd features.
Somehow your mpeg2 video file seems to be corrupted.

I cut and paste from the camcorders HDD to my local HDD. They are mpg format. Then I cut and paste the files from the local folder to VSetech6355 wrote:If you load the video into the burning module & have problems using the slider to navigate, the video file is corrupt. Using this method solved the problem on the first try! I guess that means that the files were not corrupt. I just did the editing, then saved it. Then restarted the program, went to the share tab, selected create disc and added the video files from there. Then I was able to add chapters with no problems and burn the disk.trevor andrew wrote:Hi
