Cant convert an AVI to widescreen
I am using MF4 and it wont convert widescreen avi to widescreen dvd. I have selected the 16:9 tab and it does convert the DVD menu to w/s but when you play the movie it plays it in 4:3. Any ideas what the problem maybe ?
If you choose 16:9, the menu is not converted. It is created as 16:9 from the 16:9 templates. I'm mentioning this because maybe you've used the term "convert" wrong in other places too.
Anyway, if your AVI is recognized as 16:9 then it will fill the widescreen preview in the program. If MF thinks it is 4:3, it will display it centered with black padding on the left and right... and it will render it that way too.
Have you checked the clip properties in MF?
Do mean to say that your 16:9 AVI is being shown horizontally squeezed, thin people and/or narrow content?
First make sure your AVI is in fact 16:9 and not somehow letterboxed (padded edges).

The file I am trying to burn is 640 x 352 resolution. In the preview screen it has the black bars on the sides and the picture is 4:3, ie stretched horizontal. If 4:3 = 1.33 and 16:9 = 1.77, my file is 1.81. So is there any reason why it doesnt reconize it as a wide screen file or does the screen ratio need to be exactly 1.77.
