Running VS10 with Vista patch on a Dell Dimension XPS (2003) with
3 gig proc
2 gig mem
seagate 320 7200rpm
Windows Vista Premium
The problem is that although the system runs much better with the Vista Premium upgrade, after startup, I get a flag that it is reverting to Vista Basic because of Ulead Vid Studio. Anybody help???

That is my understanding of what happens when you use VS10 with Vista, even with the patch. It cannot apparently work with the Aero aspect of the Vista desktop and Basic cancels out the Aero effect.
VS10 was obviously not designed to work with Vista, and the patch is really only a temporary fill-in until VS11 comes out -- which we hope and believe is imminent.
In the meantime, I am not even bothing to load VS10+ on my new computer which has Vista Home Premium on it, patch or no patch. That being said, I *have* loaded MF6+ on it, which is designed to work in Vista, and does so very well.
And I continue to use VS10+ with no problems on another computer which still uses XP Pro...
