Failed to burn data onto disc 534:-2147216291:0
I am receiving this error message in VideoStudio 10 after my project has written to the dvd but is not closing out and making it readable. I have updated my firmware for my lite-on dvdrw and cannot resolve this problem. I have downloaded the update for my software but that hasn't helped either. Any help would be appreciated. Dvds are not supposed to be coasters.

Have you tried burning to a DVD folder (and not to a disc) to help rule out a software error? That will also avoid making another coaster.

To expand a little on Black Lab's helpful suggestion, I regularly burn a DVD folder rather than a disc. This allows you to test the burned project on a software DVD player, and to go back and do it again if something is not right.
But importantly, from your point of view, it means you can also later burn it on a third party program like Nero Burning ROM (which I regularly use) and do so for as many copies as you like.
If you do that and produce another coaster, then I would begin to suspect that something is not right with your burner itself.
Another thing you can do is to first do a test burn using an RW disc.

Yes, I have been able to burn an iso image and then take the image into another program and burn it to DVD. I have Nero 6 on board an it works fine. This is a new load of VideoStudio 10 on a newly built dual core computer. Previously I have used this same program successfully for the past 2 months on my old computer. I can burn DVDs in every program but this one. It recognizes the DVD, burns the disc, then fails as the program finalizes the write.

Not that it solves your problem but, to tell you the truth, that's usually how I burn anyway. I first burn to a DVD folder so I can check to make sure it plays the way I want. I then use Nero to burn the folder to a DVD.
