Corel's Web site now includes Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8!

This would suggest the product might continue to be supported!
I wonder why it took so long.
Oh well, glad to see it.

It seems good news.
Based on my professional experience in take overs I do not see it as taking really that long, especially after two acquisitions in a row.
The acquirer needs to fine tune strategies and focus a lot on the reorganisation of the business to generate immediate synergies and operational capability. It is classical that the attentions go to internal issues and the market may seem a bit in second place.
I do not believe that Corel has lost a great deal of MSP 8 fans, since this is a very good product with lots of potential if they now start to invest on it.
I never believed that they would abandon MSP8. If they are interested in the consumer business as it seems, having a very good professional front is of strategic importance.
For me it seems that they are reacting just in time. Maybe testers and forum moderators were already aware of Corel plans and carefully monitoring users disappointment. If this was the case they did a very good job, including keeping an icy silence.

That speculation is nonsense. We are as in the dark as the general public - and still are!fandj wrote:Maybe testers and forum moderators were already aware of Corel plans and carefully monitoring users disappointment. If this was the case they did a very good job, including keeping an icy silence.

I have just expressed my views as a business man. To be honest I was going to do it even before I knew that the product became available. I was going to suggest that we as a group share our experiences with other softwares as an alternative, but to wait a while until we move away from MSP8. So far this seems wise.
"Nonsense" is probably a too strong word.A litle bit more of respect from others' opinion is what I am used to see in this fantastic forum.
