Hello, could someone tell me if WinDVD v8.0 off the website is compatable with Vista and if not should you need a patch at all. With this version.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums,

On Intervideo's Website it states that is Vista Compatible. Have look at the System Requirements..

If you have read through the posts here, you will find that some people are having problems with it. That does not mean that you will.

I say It's not Vista Ready... Trimension don't work with Vista and Macrovision will be blocked at installation by the Windows Defender.

I'm completely confused as to what that last post meant, but I can say without a doubt that this version of WinDVD is working on Vista. I'm using it on Vista Ultimate, and it works fine, including Trimension.
You do have to have hardware acceleration turned off and deinterlace (force weave) turned on to access Trimension. I'm assuming that it's meaningless when you're using hardware acceleration.
Also, if you turn hardware acceleration off while a DVD is playing, you have to exit and restart WinDVD before you can access Trimension.

Hello gkaras,
I'm using the German Windows Vista Home Premium. In WinDVD hardware acceleration in turned off, "force weave" is enabled. When I click on "Trimension off" to turn it "on" the movie freeze but sound plays perfectly. In some cases WinDVD stopped completly working when I click on "on". EDIT: Sound freeze too after a few seconds :(

The graphic card hardware acceleration in the device manager can't be turned off. Should I do this?

Hi Bloody,

You might need to contact the display card manufacturer to get an updated driver. Some video driver might cause that issue.

Hope this helps.
