Excused I do not speak English well. I have the following problem with in the film import: I have imported a film from DVD recorded with a dvd recorder of the duration of 1H 56min 49sec. With videostudio 10+ the dimension of the plan is of 5,99GB and therefore exceeding the concurred maximum measure and must compress it with the same one videostudio10+ but the final result has problems of audio synchronization and flow images (jumps). I have tried to import the same film with moviefactory 4 and the dimension of the plan is of 3,32GB and the final result is corrected. You have of the councils in order to resolve the problem with videostudio10? more it is adapted for my necessities of editing :?

Your DVD was probably dual layer and so would accept a DVD up to 8.5GB where higher bit rate settings were used. you will need to re-render it to a lower bit rate.

Here are some suggested bit rate settings

Thanks for the indication, unfortunately I must confirm that the DVD
that I have used in order to import the film with the duration that I
have indicated in the first message is to single layer. the
bit-rate that are used in the setting are:- variable max 6160
kb.
Do not understand why when amount the dimension of the plan in the
bar of videostudio 10 is therefore large(5,99 GB) while in Moviefactory
it is normal(3,32GB) inasmuch as I use the same DVD with the same
film in order to import.
I look forward to the solution to my problem because such a big inziale dimension forces to a compression of the filmed sequence which gives a poor final result.
thanks :(

Without knowing what your audio settings are it is difficult to determine why VS is saying the file size is too large for a SL DVD. Dropping the audio bitrate clear down to 64 kbps still will not provide the 6160 kbps stated in your post.

What is your audio properties, PCM, MPEG-audio layer 2, Dolby? And what is the audio bitrate?

Here are a couple of Bitrate Calculators to help you figure out the correct bitrate to use.

Import your video into the burning module from an EMPTY timeline.
If you bring the video over from the timeline into the burning module it will be re-encoded.
The burning module has separate project settings, it's actually a separate module similar to MF.

Yes, that's a very possible reason the Disc Creation tool is trying to re-render.

Do as etech6355 says, and also make sure to hit the little gear icon (bottom left) and make sure you have "do not convert compliant mpeg files" checked.

If your recorder uses mpeg audio, and you want Dolby Digital audio (in NTSC land), then also check the "treat mpeg audio as non compliant", and make sure your project is setup to use Dolby Digital audio.

George

the parameters of the plan are following:
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG Files
Lower Fiel First
(DVD-PAL) 4:3
Video Data Rate: variable (max 6160 KBPs)
Audio Date Rate 256 KBPs
Dolby Audio Digital 48 Khz, 2,0 (L, R)
For ETECH355
Excuse the ignorance  but I have not understood the phrase: Import your video into the burning module from an EMPTY timeline. Me you can explain the procedure step by step? The Burning module is a separate program? thanks for the aid :?
