Creating Graphics
If I want to creat a text graphic so that I can input it into a web page and I want the background to be transparent so that only the text will show in the graphic?

Open a new project, and select for the background color-Transparent. Then when you save your image, save it to a file format such as GIF, or PNG that supports the alpha (transparent) channel. Since you are creating a "text" image, then I would save it as a GIF.
What version of PI are you using? In PI-11 and 12, go to Web>Image Optimizer and select GIF. Then check the transparency tab to make sure thet the background is in fact transparent. You should see 2 panes, the one on the right should not have a background color, just the grey and white checkerboard that indicates it is transparent.

My preferred method is to create the text on the background I'll be using because it gives me a smoother edge on the text. This isn't always possible, especially if the background has a pattern but if it's just a texture, this method works great.
