help files for export to MOV format
Hi there, I have just started working with MF 6 plus . Before this I was using MF 4 with DVD authoring and I managed to find my way around things and was happy. I now want to try and master the export promt to convert small video files to Quicktime, in order to compress them and then send them over the internet. I had hoped to be able to edit them in MF before I exported as a MOV file and then compressed to send..we are only speaking about 2 min videos here. BUT I cannot work out what the settings should be when I export to MOV. I have tried a couple of ways but the exported video in MOV format either plays frames very slowly or has no audio file. Is there a tut or a help file somewhere that helps me understand the video save options I should be using? Hope someone can give me the heads up here, I have been trying to search for days now. Julie
Can I ask why your are selecting the MOV format?
If using the MOV format Mpeg-4 is a good compression for the video
and uLaw2.1 16bit Mono 22,050 for the audio.
Usually the best way to send video to windows users is the WMV format.
The Neptune Medium Quality is pretty good.
The Neptune Low Quality is alright.
For MOV video files I've found that using the Mpeg4 as the video compression is better than the other choices, most of the others may result in a larger file than the original and could be rejected by mail servers because of the filesize being to large/big. Many mail serviers have a 10megabyte limit on sending or receiving mail.
The audio uLaw2.1 is actually the codec we seem to have to use with this program. I'm not to familiar with the other audio codecs that are available.
If you must use the MOV container format you can also buy the QuickTime 7.1 ($20.00 US). You can export directly from the QuickTime Pro version which has more encoding features.
