Problem with Video Studio 8 SE

Post by RaCkErZ »

Ok Im going to try to explain this as best as possible.
Basically this programme used to work fine, but now whenever I put a video in there...it will play fine if I start it from the beginning but if I click in the middle of the timeline to watch a bit further into the video...the sound goes all strange and fuzzy...also when I finally convert them into movie files...the sound is like this. Does anyone know what it could be. I use Quicktime files but it does the same with media player files. But as I said it used to be completely fine!! Please anyone??
Thank you Rach xxx :?

Welcome to the forums,

Some problems that I see are:
1. Editing Quicktime files. Those are highly compressed and inherently can cause a variety of problems. It seems the most frequent being with the audio. With a video clip in the timeline or library, right-click and select properties, and post what they are.

1a. What version of QuickTime do you have installed? There have been users report having problems with the current version of QT and VS10 or 10+, which is the most current release of VS. So I can imagine that your version VS8 SE is not going to get along well with it.

2. Your version, VS8 SE, which is a crippled, version that most likely was included with some hardware or in a magazine. There are limitations with these free versions, such as not being able to produce MPEG-2 files, which are needed to create DVDs, and also just not being able to burn anything but CDs (VCD or SVCD). The audio is also limited, by not being able to support Dolby Digital.

Without any further information, I suspect that you have upgraded to the current version of QuickTime, and that is causing yoiur audio problems. Try uninstalling QuickTime if in fact that is the case, and reverting to a previous version. You can download older versions from QuickTime's website.
