Where are the missing (Nature, Romantic, etc) MF5 templates?

Post by Velojet »

(I've checked other threads relating to menu templates, but nowhere found a satisfactory answer to this question.)

Having run into problems with the MF6+ Edit Room (but that's another story), I decided to do a full clean reinstall of MF5, and really check out just what it gave me in the way of templates. I'd always felt there should be more, but thought perhaps I hadn't installed MF5 properly.

This is what I found:

After the basic install (subsequently patched to 5.0.0189.1), I had in the Menu Template Gallery:
- 1 SmartScene Menu
- 1 Thumbnail Menu
- 1 Text Menu

This corresponded to what was in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5\Content\Menu Template\4x3 (same for \16x9) folder:

3 template folders, with 1 UFO file in each:
\One Scene Button
\Scene Button
\Text Button

BUT there was also a folder \Content\SS Props\Celebration, with 4 UFO files and no sign of these in the Gallery!

Now, after installing the extra content download (dmf5_content_e.exe), I have in the Gallery

- 5 SmartScene Menus
- 6 Thumbnail Menus
- 5 Text Menus

... corresponding to UFO files in the 3 folders under 4x3 and 16x9:
\One Scene Button\[5 UFO files]
\Scene Button\[6 UFO files]
\Text Button\[5 UFO files]

BUT now there were also 5 more folders under \Content\SS Props\ and no sign of these in the Gallery!
\Holiday\[7 UFO files]
\Message\[16 UFO files]
\Nature\[7 UFO files]
\Romantic\[3 UFO files]
\Sport\[5 UFO files]
+ 3 more UFO files in \Celebration

My questions (hope you're still with me!):

What are these Celebration/Holiday/Message/Nature/Romantic/Sport menu templates? How can I get at them?

Hi,
Those are not templates, they are Slide Show props. Only for slide shows.

Ah! Thanks for solving the mystery, Henry (and for wading through my message).

So 'SS' stands for 'Slide Show', not 'Smart Scene'!

Having read about menu templates in these other categories in earlier MF versions, I'd jumped to the conclusion that they should be in MF5 as well.

I spent a lot of time collecting and weeding out all the templates from previous versions and other content downloads I had discovered, and getting everything into MF5+.
The main problem is that Ulead did not follow the folder and naming conventions between versions (very, very disappointing), so I had to do it manually. And made sure to save the whole thing on an external disk.

A few of the old ones cause MF5 to crash, so I deleted those.

A few from VS10+ (I believe ?) were nice additions. I don't remember where at Ulead I stumbled across this, but it was probably somewhere in the support area.
It's not the backgrounds I was interested in, but the various buttons and frames in these templates that are not available separately in the button or frame category.
