I am presently using WinDVD 4. I often need to capture hundreds of images and this product allows me to do so easily as each captured image is simply saved as cap001.bmp, 002, 003, etc. So if I have 15 images captured I then save all of them easily....then if I save another 15 the program saves them as 016, 017, etc. and everything is fine.
I was looking at WinDVD 8 and it seems like the capture system is all screwed up now. First of all if you save 15 images it by default uses the title of the movie...usually a very long name...and then a number. Sure you can change this but you have to go in and change each one....one at a time. But most importantly, if I save 15 images and then want to save another 15, unless I rename each image separately, the program, instead of continuing the numbering from 16...goes back to 1 and overwrites the first 15 images!!!
I have looked to see if there is any way to set up the capture system differently in the preferences, but can not find a way. Am I missing something here or has this program simply developed in a way that makes it much harder to capture large numbers of images from a movie??
I have no real desire or need to upgrade to WinDVD 8, except for the fact that I expect to eventually upgrade to Vista and I have heard that WinDVD 4 will not operate under Vista.

Hi,
For the capture problem you have with WinDVD 8, please report to InterVideo Tech Support.

Yes, WinDVD 4 might not run under Vista. You need WinDVD 8 for that.maineiac wrote:I have no real desire or need to upgrade to WinDVD 8, except for the fact that I expect to eventually upgrade to Vista and I have heard that WinDVD 4 will not operate under Vista.

Re: Capture Issues
Thanks for your suggestion....but this is not actually a "problem" since the capture system works....just not in a very convenient way. Also, your link doesn't help since InterVideo Tech Support does not provide "support" beyond 90 days...and it has been much longer since I purchased WinDVD 4. (I only have a trial version of WinDVD 8 and InterVideo does not provide any support for that either.) Is there perhaps someplace though that a "suggestion" could be made to improve the product (or in this case to return to a better system from before)?htchien wrote:Hi,

Meanwhile, I took a look at Power DVD, and it does provide the functionally for capture that I need, so when I eventually upgrade to Vista, I will probably purchase Power DVD unless InterVideo modifies the capture system back to the way it was...or at least provides that as an option.
