Are you trying to preview this in Project Mode? If so this is very common. VS must throw everything together "on-the-fly', ie; it is not rendered. This is very demanding on PCs. You would need an extremely powerful PC in order for this to be real smooth. Then to add to this burden you place, a 3D video into the mix. 3D video has to be the most demanding on PC resources. If you have anything running in the background, then this preview more then likely will not be smooth.

What format is:
1. Your 3D video, and what program was used to create it?
2. Your video files (other then the 3D) being used in VS?

Have you tried rendering (Share>Create Video File) to see if you still have the problem? I think that once it is rendered, it should play fluidly.
