Cannot uninstall VideoStudio Trial from Vista
I downloaded and installed the trial for VideoStudio 10 on my Vista machine. It kinda worked but kinda didn't so I just decided to get rid of it. However, when I try to uninstall it, the uninstaller crashes right away every time. So I am wondering how I can get this program off my system?
Any ideas?

Wow.... good question. Since the trial was not Vista ready, did you apply the Vista patch first? (I don't know if you even can with the trial) The problem is because the trial is not expecting Vista, it may very well bomb out on the uninstall.
You can remove the files by hand, search the archive on what and where they are, BUT going into the Vista registry is something I would not advise unless you really, really, really know what you are doing.

You are assuming that the registry for Vista is the same format as XP. If you know that for a fact, OK, but if not, be carful. I don't know for sure which was why I posted my caution.sjj1805 wrote:Please view:

Yes it is wise to be cautious when dealing with the registry.
I am not using Vista though I did once install a beta Version, didn't like it and wiped that particular hard drive clean.
My research has tended to show that the Vista Registry is not unlike the XP Registry.
Does Vista have a registry?
If anyone with Vista would like to provide the forum with some feedback on this point it will certainly help us with our problem solving.

I just bought a new HP Pavilion 9000 "laptop" (really a desktop substitute -- full keyboard including separate numerical keypad, 17 inch monitor ... says the proud father!!
)
Anyway, back to the post: it has Vista on it. And you get into Regedit the same way as in XP (by typing regedit in the Find area). The module which appears looks identical to XP's, and as far as I can tell behaves in the same way too -- though I am afraid that in my effort to help, I was not willing just yet to actually modify a Registry setting!!

rollback is best
System restore is the best way. Use the system restore utility to roll back your system to a day prior to installation. After you are done to to windows explorer and manually delete the directory.

Vist Vista Vista.......
I had alot of problems with Vist. They advertised that most XP programs can run on Vista,
Sometimes it stops and warns you not to load a program
Sometimes it lets you load them.
I also had problems removing non compatible programs Vista allowed me to load. They messed up my system
I used roll back a few times and the last time it would not roll back.
I gave up and went back to XP.
So remember to back up your important files before you do anything
Good Luck
I did like the feel of Vista but it is sitting in my bottom draw until they fix the bugs. Video studio works great on XP.
