I bouoght WinDVD8 nearly a year ago and am still waiting for it to play a DVD. I've followed all Tech Support's suggestions, and have now installed and registered it. The program brings up a nice window with nothing I find to do to get the DVD playing. What can I do to get it running before the first year runs out and I have to pay another fee?????
Mark me: VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE PROGRAM, THE EASE OF GETTING IT TO RUN, AND THE SUPPORT.

You need to give more information as to what your nice window looks like. I am guessing that you have the program set to run Full Screen. If that is the case then right click anywhere on the nice window and an information screen will appear and give you all the options you need to view your movies.

There seem to be 2 problems:
1. When I bought the program there were no instructions. I've tried clicking on everything available in the window, but nothing gets the DVD to read.
2. When I put a DVD in my desktop either autoplay runs or I'm given a small window with choices of what I want to do with the DVD. The notebook (HP Pavilion zt1130) does not. Perhaps this is something that needs to be activated on the notebook.

When you open Windvd are there should be two bars at the top of the window. The uppermost one is the normal info bar with minimize, maximize and the red x to close the program.
The bar under it will have a icon in the left hand corner that looks like a folder with a dvd image that appears to be halfway in the folder. That is where you click to go to the source of your movie. When you click on it you are given location choices as to what you want to play. I have four different ones / Dvd Rom (E) / DVD Burner (F) / Open File / Open From Folder
Cheers !!
